OMNI jumpstarts FEU Graduating Students’ Aviation Careers

With four training batches incoming, Far Eastern University (FEU) sends its qualified students for OMNI Aviation Corporation’s Alternative Internship Program On-Site Training at OMNI’s premises for their OJT requirement before graduating from their bachelor courses of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BS HRM). The 3-day training consists of (1) Grooming Activity and Inflight Training, (2) Ditching Training, and (3) Jump-Slide and Safety Training, respectively.

During Day 1, the students learn with Ms. Lisa Cruz the how-to’s of proper grooming from posture to basic skin care; image management; customer service through scenario based activities onboard; safety demonstration, and; actual on-board services like opening the cabin door, practicing boarding announcements, and serving passengers.

On Day 2, the olympic-sized pool at Fontana Leisure Park is where the students train for Ditching. Under the expertise of Mr. Renz Carlo Manalo, and Capt. Arvin Jay Ongkingco, they learn the basics of swimming, and the safety procedures during forced landing in water.

Day 3 is the last day of internship where they learn safety procedures with Ms. CJ Reid, and Capt. John Derick Correa. During the Fire Fighting Procedures instruction, the students learn how to manage the passengers and each experience using a fire extinguisher as they are assisted by officers from OMNI’s Safety Department. This is followed by a Pre-Flight Check and Operation of the Halon and Brake Cooling Fan; Jump-Slide training, and; practice of the appropriate bracing position and cabin crew emergency commands.
